Save Mart Supermarkets finalized a class settlement worth more than $20.5 million to resolve litigation by non-union workers who said the grocer terminated their health benefits after misleading them about those available to unionized workers.
The deal covers 669 workers and retirees who said Save Mart failed to honor its promise to provide them with lifetime medical benefits. They say the deal represents about 46% of the present value of those benefits.
