Santé Hedge Fund Employee Largely Keeps Jury Win Over Bonuses

A former Santé Ventures marketing director won a $1.4 million jury verdict in a lawsuit over unpaid bonuses, nearly matching an earlier award that drew criticism from the federal judge overseeing the case.

A jury ruled in 2023 that Santé, a private hedge fund focused on the biotechnology field, wrongly denied cash bonuses to Youngjoo Rhee stemming from her work to secure an investment from a pension fund. The jury awarded Rhee $1.5 million in September, but Judge Lewis J. Liman criticized that award as being unsupported by trial evidence.
