Ryder Systems Strikes Deal After Early Loss in COBRA Notice Suit

Ryder System Inc. will settle a proposed class action claiming it sends legally insufficient COBRA notices informing former workers of their right to keep their company-provided health coverage, according to a notice filed in Florida federal court.

Ryder and plaintiff James Thompson III struck a deal after a Jan. 23 mediation session and plan to submit the settlement for court approval by March 1, they said in a joint notice filed Monday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
