Rules on Net Investment Income Tax Likely Within Months, IRS Official Says

NEW YORK—Work on guidance for the 3.8% net investment income tax under §1411 is “very far along” and should result in issuance of final rules in the coming months, an IRS official said July 30.

Speaking at a New York region seminar of the International Fiscal Association USA Branch, Dan McCall, special counsel to the IRS deputy associate chief counsel (international-technical), said that in the §1411 rulemaking “the goal is still to put out final regs in 2013” despite a heavy workload of regulatory projects.
