R.R. Donnelley Workers Get First OK for 401(k) Fee Settlement

R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. secured preliminary approval for a nearly $1.2 million class settlement with employees who say the communications and printing firm allowed its 401(k) plan to pay excessive administrative fees.

The deal, which is slated to benefit more than 50,000 people covered by R.R. Donnelley’s 401(k) plan since 2014, represents about 17% of the plan participants’ estimated losses, they said in their settlement motion.

Judge Mary M. Rowland approved the agreement on a preliminary basis in an order docketed Friday; she also scheduled May 23 fairness hearing to further evaluate the deal.
