Prudential Can’t Get Quick Appeal in Life Insurance Class Action

Prudential Insurance Co. of America can’t immediately appeal a decision giving class action status to about 1,000 JPMorgan and Con-Way Inc. workers who challenged the company’s life insurance payment practices.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit on April 10 denied the insurer’s request for a quick appeal of the class certification decision. The court’s decision, which wasn’t accompanied by a written explanation, forces Prudential to continue defending a lawsuit challenging how it pays benefits under its life insurance policies.
