PPG Settles Retiree Health Coverage Suit for $7.65M

PPG Industries Inc. signed a $7.65 million settlement to end a 13-year-old lawsuit by retirees challenging cuts to their health benefits.

The deal, announced in court papers filed Jan. 17, also requires PPG to continue covering varying levels of health benefits for certain retirees through 2025. About 6,033 union workers who retired from 13 PPG facilities across the country will benefit from the deal.
