Pension Insurer Nominee Sees Role as ‘Bipartisan Problem Solver’

The Senate Finance committee considered the nomination of President Donald Trump’s pick to direct the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, quizzing the candidate at a Sept. 27 hearing.

Gordon Hartogensis, an investor and technology entrepreneur who most recently managed his family’s trust, appears likely to be confirmed by the committee. If approved by the Finance Committee and the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, which hasn’t yet announced a hearing, his nomination will be sent to the full Senate for a confirmation.
