Owens & Minor Sues Anthem Blue Cross for Health Plan Claims Data

Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield abuses its position as third-party health plan administrator by failing to turn over claims data despite repeated requests, health-care logistics company Owens & Minor Inc. said in a new federal lawsuit.

Owens, which hired Anthem to manage claims for its self-funded health plan in 2017, says it’s grown “more sensitive” in recent years to the potential for fraud, waste, and abuse in the process of health claims administration.
