NXP Granted CEO $77 Million After Biggest-Ever Chip Deal Failed

NXP Semiconductors NV doled out awards worth tens of millions of dollars to its top executives on the day the chipmaker terminated a drawn-out attempt to sell the company to rival Qualcomm Inc.

Chief Executive Officer Richard Clemmer received $77.4 million for 2018, most of it in restricted equity that will pay out depending on the firm’s stock return relative to peers over a three-year period, according to a regulatory filing March 1. About 200 other managers at Eindhoven, Netherlands-based NXP also received bigger grants than in other years, some of which are tied to the performance of its shares. ...
