Northrop Grumman Retiree Wants 2,000-Person Pension Offset Class

A Northrop Grumman Corp. retiree asked a federal judge in California to certify a 2,000-person class in his lawsuit claiming the company shortchanges certain pension payments by overestimating the money workers received from other retirement plans.

John Baleja said his case covers between 1,181 and 2,000 former employees of a TRW Inc. subsidiary who saw their pensions “dramatically reduced” after Northrop acquired their company in 2002. Baleja filed his motion for class certification Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
