NFL Disability Plan Beats Ex-Player’s Benefits Suit on Appeal

The NFL retirement plan on Friday convinced the Fifth Circuit to undo a decision awarding a former running back increased disability benefits.

Michael Cloud isn’t entitled to reclassification to the highest level of disability pay because he can’t show changed circumstances between his 2014 claim for reclassification and a subsequent one in 2016, which was denied and he didn’t appeal, the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit said.
