Navistar Retirees Seek First Nod for $742 Million Settlement

A group representing Navistar International Corp. retirees wants to move forward with a $742 million class action settlement that resolves a long-running dispute over the company’s benefit contributions, according to a filing in an Ohio federal court.

The proposed settlement would allow class members to receive benefits while they’re still alive, the group told the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. It would also provide benefits similar to those in place before cutbacks sparked a lawsuit in 1992 that ended with a settlement in 1993, according to the Wednesday filing.
