Major League Baseball improperly denied nearly $6 million in retirement benefits to a former executive vice president, according to a federal lawsuit filed in Manhattan.
Christopher Tully says the league owes him millions of dollars under an executive pension plan that was amended in 2004 to defer distributions until retirement and dissuade employees from leaving the organization before reaching retirement age. According to Tully, the league improperly calculated his benefits without accounting for the hefty annual bonuses he earned, causing his payout to be substantially shortchanged.
