MIT Taps Prominent Mediator to Resolve Retirement Plan Suit

Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced plans to take a pending class action over its retirement plan to a professional mediator.

The school March 11 sought permission to pause the case so it can pursue mediation with Hunter Hughes Alternative Dispute Resolution. The mediation is scheduled for May 22.

Hughes is a familiar presence in the recent litigation series accusing prominent universities of retirement plan mismanagement. Hughes brokered a $10.65 million settlement in the case against Duke University and a similar deal with Vanderbilt University, the terms of which haven’t yet been made public.
