MetLife Looking for Thousands Owed Retirement Benefits

Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. is searching for thousands of retirees who are owed benefits, the insurance company announced in a securities filing Dec. 15.

The company is looking for as many as 30,000 people who have annuities through the company who have changed jobs, relocated, or can’t be located through contact information previously provided, MetLife said. They are estimated to be less than 5 percent of the company’s 600,000 group annuitants, and some benefits may only total $150 a month.
