Mental Health Parity Rules May Threaten Coverage, Employers Say

Major company sponsors of health plans may have to re-evaluate their coverage of mental health benefits if a Biden administration proposal is finalized, several national groups representing employers said in new public comments on the regulations.

Comments filed by the ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC) and other groups representing employers and health insurers were critical of the proposed rules (RIN 1210-AC11) from the departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and the Treasury on the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA).
