Mass General Cleared for $8.25 Million Retirement Fee Settlement

Mass General Brigham Inc. finalized an $8.25 million class settlement benefiting workers who accused the Boston-based hospital of mismanaging their retirement plan through high fees and pricey funds.

The agreement covers more than 100,000 plan participants and beneficiaries since January 2016, and it represents between 20% and 30% of the participants’ total estimated damages in the case. Judge Myong J. Joun granted final approval to the deal and awarded class counsel nearly $2.8 million in attorneys’ fees and costs in a pair of orders issued Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
