Lighting Company Settles 401(k) Forfeiture, Smoker Penalty Suit

Automotive lighting systems supplier North American Lighting Inc. plans to settle a proposed class action over its use of 401(k) forfeitures and the tobacco penalty in its employees’ health plan.

The parties asked for a pause on all court deadlines so they can focus on drafting the settlement agreement and related paperwork. Their joint motion, filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois, proposed a March 13, 2026, deadline for submitting details of the agreement for court approval.
