Las Vegas Chamber’s New Health Plan Draws 650 Small Businesses

About 650 small businesses and self-employed individuals in Nevada are in the process of signing up for the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce’s new association health plan.

The Las Vegas health plan, which offers coverage across Nevada, is one of the first and largest plans to form under the Labor Department’s recent expansion of association health plans.

The DOL’s final rule, released in June, expanded access to the plans by allowing more small business, like self-employed individuals and gig workers, to fit within the definition of “employer.” That allowed associations of business, such as the Las Vegas Chamber, to ...
