Know Your Judge: Lynn N. Hughes

This week in Know Your Judge we feature Judge Lynn N. Hughes of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Hughes joined the bench in 1985 after been nominated by President Ronald Reagan. Hughes was an adjunct professor at South Texas College of Law for 30 years.

Two years ago, Hughes issued a $41 million award in favor of Aetna Life Insurance Co. in its challenge against a Texas-based small hospital accused of engaging in a fraudulent billing scheme. In his ruling, Hughes described the hospital as “filthy up to the elbows from lies and corrupt bargains.” ...
