Small Kentucky public agencies straining under the burden of high pension contributions could catch some relief under a bill the state House passed on Thursday.
The measure (H.B. 171), which passed on a 90-to-0 vote, would rejigger the funding formula for one of the worst-funded pension systems in the country, decreasing the burden on dozens of health agencies across the Bluegrass State while shifting some of the funding onus onto larger institutions.
