John Muir’s $950,000 Retirement Plan Settlement Gets Court Nod

John Muir Health received initial approval for a $950,000 class settlement with workers challenging the hospital system’s retirement plan fees and how it handles plan money forfeited by departing workers.

The deal is slated to provide nearly 44,000 class members with about 13.7% of their estimated losses, according to court filings. Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín of the US District Court for the Northern District of California granted preliminary approval to the deal June 20; she also scheduled a Dec. 11 fairness hearing.
