International Paper, Ex-Employee Strike Deal in Severance Suit

International Paper Co. settled a lawsuit by a former employee who sought at least $250,000 in severance benefits after failing to affirmatively accept a transfer to a newly established company.

The parties are finalizing settlement paperwork and expect to seek dismissal of the case within 30 days, they told Judge Samuel H. Mays Jr. Their joint notice, filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, included no details about the terms of their agreement.
