Huntington Ingalls Agrees to Class Status in Pension Data Row

Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc. won’t fight a bid for class certification in a lawsuit claiming it shortchanges certain retiree pensions by using an outdated mortality table, the military shipbuilder told the Eastern District of Virginia.

Huntington disputes the lawsuit’s allegations but agrees that the case can be resolved as a class action, it said in a Jan. 17 stipulation. Huntington said it won’t challenge the certification of a class of “more than a thousand” people receiving specific types of payments from its pension plan.
