Honeywell’s Settlement With Connecticut Retirees Due Next Month

Honeywell International Inc. is expected to announce a settlement governing health benefits for union retirees of a Stratford, Conn., plant in mid-January, according to an order by a federal judge in Connecticut.

Judge Robert M. Spector ordered the parties to file a motion for preliminary settlement approval following a five-and-a-half hour settlement conference on Dec. 4. The motion is due Jan. 17.

Spector’s order comes four months after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled in favor of the retirees in their lawsuit seeking lifetime health coverage from Honeywell. Workers who retired under a bargaining agreement that ...
