Hilary Swank Sues SAG Health Plan Over Ovarian Cyst Treatments

Actress Hilary Swank sued the health plan covering thousands of film and television actors, telling a Los Angeles federal court that she’s been wrongly denied coverage for treatments tied to her recurrent ovarian cysts.

Swank, a two-time Academy Award winner, says the SAG-AFTRA Health Plan’s trustees initially covered her treatments but reversed course in 2015, around the time she was undergoing procedures to “preserve her ability to conceive in the future.” Swank says the plan began wrongly categorizing her ovarian cyst treatments as an infertility treatment excluded from coverage, even though they were necessary to prevent debilitating medical conditions, including ...
