Hatch, Wyden Tout Retirement Bill Ahead of Omnibus Push

Bipartisan legislation making it easier for employers to administer retirement plans and open up options for gig workers could be up against the clock if its sponsors want it included in March 23 funding legislation.

An omnibus spending bill set to move through the House and Senate in the coming weeks will be an attractive target for provisions with bipartisan support, including the Retirement Enhancement and Savings Act (S. 2526), which Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah) and ranking member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) reintroduced March 8.
