Hartford Life Insurance Co. violated federal benefits law by failing to provide life insurance premium waivers to disabled workers as required under its policies, a new lawsuit claims.

Hartford, a major provider of life and disability insurance benefits, failed to approve claims for waiver of life insurance premiums for disabled workers when it should have known they were entitled to those benefits under the terms of certain life insurance policies, according to a lawsuit filed May 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
