Hartford Beats Suit Over Allegedly Misdirected Insurance Payout

Hartford Life & Accident Co. dodged a suit by children who alleged it wrongly paid benefits from their father’s $225,000 life insurance policy to their grandparents, after a ruling from the Western District of Oklahoma.

The insurer acted reasonably and in good faith, based on the grandfather’s sworn statement that his son had no living children, the court said.

David Lamare Atchison II died of a gunshot. Keisha Jones-Atchison, his ex-wife, was a suspect in his death, the court said.
