Greif Inc. sent legally deficient notices to workers of their right to remain on the company’s health plan after leaving their jobs, according to a proposed class action filed Thursday in the Northern District of Illinois.
Dau Pham, who was terminated by the industrial packaging product company in 2017, says Greif’s notices didn’t comply with the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, the federal law requiring employers with 20 or more employees to allow workers to continue their health coverage after they’ve been terminated.
