Government Seeks Input on Health Insurer Drug Reporting Rule

The federal government is seeking comment from employers and health insurers on how to implement prescription drug-reporting requirements.

The Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration, along with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Treasury Department, must develop rules on how group health plans and insurers can disclose pharmaceutical rebates under the Consolidated Appropriations Act enacted in December 2020.

The agencies are seeking general concerns from industry participants about whether the information can be gathered and specific comment about whether the requirements apply to plans covering federal employees. (RIN 1210-AC07, 0938-AU66, 1545-BQ10, 3206-AO27)
