GE Beats Benefits Suit by Former Executive of Acquired Company

General Electric Co. defeated a lawsuit by a corporate communications executive who said she wasn’t given details about her retirement benefit options when the conglomerate acquired her company in 2003.

Most claims in Carol Perlman’s 2022 lawsuit fail because they were filed too late, Judge Paul A. Engelmayer of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said June 30. Perlman was “well aware” that her position was eliminated in 2003 and should have known then that she could be subject to related changes to her employee benefits, the judge said.
