GE 401(k) Fund Lawsuit Leads to Battle Among Plaintiffs’ Lawyers

A dispute over the affiliated investment funds in General Electric Co.‘s 401(k) plan spawned further disagreement among the GE employees’ lawyers, with one group of law firms on Thursday telling a federal judge in Massachusetts they were “blindsided” by another firm’s actions.

The dispute follows a Jan. 9 order from Judge Indira Talwani denying the GE employees’ motion for class certification, which GE declined to oppose. Talwani said the motion didn’t identify the specific attorneys tapped to serve as class counsel—information she needed to know in order to determine if counsel was properly qualified.
