A federal judge granted initial approval for a $4.6 million class settlement benefiting Garnet Health Medical Center employees who said the New York health system’s retirement plan charged high fees while offering subpar funds.
The agreement is expected to provide about 5,000 current and former plan participants with nearly 22% of their maximum estimated damages. Judge Philip M. Halpern granted preliminary approval to the deal and scheduled an April 20, 2026, fairness hearing in an order issued Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
