Fund Manager Who Golfs, Travels Loses Disability Benefits Suit

A former Sands Capital Management LLC portfolio manager who golfed regularly lost his lawsuit seeking disability benefits from United of Omaha Life Insurance Co. on account of back pain.

It was “abundantly reasonable” for the insurer to deem the manager capable of working based on his frequent travel and physical activity, Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff said Monday for the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
