Frustrated Employers Outline Ways to Work With PBMs (2)

The promoting of higher-price drugs when lower-price drugs are available is the top concern employers have when dealing with pharmacy benefit managers.

A “playbook” for employers to use in dealing with PBMs was issued Monday by the National Alliance for Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions. The report outlines a wide range of issues employers have when working with PBMs, and it includes sample contract language requiring transparency from PBMs, as well as health plan consultants and brokers, on how they are compensated and what rebates they receive.
