Former NFL Defensive Tackle Ends Case Over Disability Benefits

A former NFL defensive tackle dropped his federal lawsuit claiming the league disability plan wrongly reduced his benefits by misconstruing his psychiatric issues as predating his football career.

Roy Miller III and the National Football League’s disability plan on Monday filed paperwork agreeing to have the case dismissed. The litigation was resolved on confidential terms, an attorney for Miller told Bloomberg Law.

Miller, who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Kansas City Chiefs between 2009 and 2017, accused the league plan of awarding him benefits at a reduced level based on his history with anxiety and depression ...
