First Unum Settles with CityMD Worker Over Covid-19 Disability

First Unum Life Insurance Co. settled a federal disability benefits lawsuit brought by a New York resident and CityMD manager who contracted Covid-19 in March 2020 and said she can’t work due to persistent fatigue, brain fog, and respiratory issues.

Judge Ronnie Abrams closed the case in an order issued Wednesday, noting she’d received a report the parties had reached a settlement. Her order didn’t include details about the terms of the settlement, and counsel for First Unum declined to comment. Counsel for plaintiff Maryfrances Dolan didn’t immediately respond to an inquiry sent by email.
