Fiat Chrysler Sued Over ‘Ominous’ Warning in COBRA Notices

A former Fiat Chrysler Automobiles employee claims the company sends legally deficient and “ominous” notices informing former workers of their right to keep health coverage after leaving their jobs, according to a proposed class action filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday by former worker Gabriel Greene, challenges the notices Chrysler sends under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, the federal law requiring companies with 20 or more employees to allow workers to continue their health coverage after they’ve been terminated.
