Exxon Sued Over Handling of Pregnant Employee’s Medical Bills

A former Exxon Mobil Corp. employee who says she went into premature labor after an on-the-job accident filed a lawsuit challenging the company’s attempt to claw back hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical benefits.

The employee’s Oct. 31 lawsuit seeks a court order invalidating Exxon’s effort to recoup more than $250,000 in medical bills paid on behalf of her and her minor son after they received a third-party personal injury settlement. The employee accuses Exxon of wrongly changing its position on the true cause of her injuries in an effort to save money.
