Ex-TD Bank Employee Advances Retaliation, Discrimination Suit

A former TD Bank NA employee advanced part of her lawsuit claiming she was wrongly terminated for reporting potential misconduct and because of her race.

Melissa Blount, a Black woman fired from TD Bank in 2019, is moving forward with claims under New Jersey’s Conscientious Employee Protection Act, which prohibits retaliation against whistleblowers.

Blount adequately alleged that she was terminated a few weeks after reporting her concerns that a colleague in the mortgage department was violating the federal Truth in Lending Act, Judge Noel L. Hillman of the US District Court for the District of New Jersey said Wednesday.
