Ex-Phillips 66 Worker Loses Severance, Discrimination Appeal

Phillips 66 Co. doesn’t owe severance benefits to a longtime employee who said he was fired because the company incorrectly suspected he had a drug problem, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit ruled Wednesday.

William Manna is ineligible for severance benefits under the terms of Phillips 66’s plan because he never received a notice of layoff and because his personnel file indicated that his termination was for cause, the court said in an unpublished opinion.
