The ex-girlfriend of a deceased Challenge Manufacturing Holdings Inc. employee is entitled to his life insurance proceeds of $146,000 despite text messages showing the worker intended to remove her as his beneficiary.

The employee named his former girlfriend as beneficiary of his life insurance coverage with Unum Life Insurance Co., and there’s no evidence showing he attempted to revoke this designation, Magistrate Judge Matthew A. Stinnett said.
