Caregiver Bias at Work Rises During Covid-19, EEOC Says (1)

The EEOC signaled Monday that caregivers in the workplace face potential discrimination, an issue exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic that will continue to cause tension as many of those workers and job-seekers with family responsibilities return to the office and schools reopen.

Based on existing Equal Employment Opportunity Commission guidance, the agency’s new documents outline how discrimination against applicants or employees with caregiving responsibilities can violate federal equal employment laws, including examples specifically borne from strain of working parents that rose during the pandemic.
