Four former New York-based employees of Emirates Airline filed a federal lawsuit claiming the airline targeted American workers for layoffs during the Covid-19 pandemic and illegally failed to give them severance or advanced notice of their termination.

Kayenat Farah’s proposed class action, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, accuses the Dubai-based airline of discriminating against American employees by targeting them for layoffs, paying them less than non-American employees working in the U.S., and denying them benefits under the company’s severance plan.
