DollarDays International Inc. settled a lawsuit brought by a former employee who accused the company of failing to properly inform workers of their right to retain health coverage after leaving their jobs, according to papers filed in the District of Arizona.
The Aug. 7 settlement resolves individual claims by Denise Cechini, who in April filed a proposed class action alleging violations of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. Cechini claimed DollarDays’ notices didn’t meet COBRA’s statutory requirements, because they failed to explain how to enroll in COBRA coverage or where to send premium payments.
