Doctors, Patients Plagued by Incorrect Details in Directories

More than 80% of physicians have inconsistent or inaccurate entries in health insurance provider directories, making it harder for patients to know whether they are in their network and eligible for lower cost-sharing, according to a study released Tuesday.

Directory errors can prove costly, not only for patients but for providers, health insurers, and health plans.
