Defunct Philadelphia-based law firm Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP finalized a $675,000 class settlement resolving litigation over how it managed the retirement benefits of non-equity partners and counsel.
Judge John M. Younge granted final approval to the deal in an order docketed Jan. 23, saying it could benefit as many as 57 participants and 48 beneficiaries in the firm’s retirement plan. The settlement amount represents 68% of the maximum potential recovery in the case and is structured with an eye toward ensuring the tax-favored treatment of class members’ payments.
