Cigna Sued Over Hospital Bills Tied to In-Network Provider List

Cigna Group was sued by a family that says it’s facing a collection action for out-of-network charges from a hospital the insurer insists is in-network.

The family says it’s been financially harmed by Cigna’s failure to maintain and communicate accurate information about its provider network. The lawsuit, filed July 12 in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, brings claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act on behalf of a proposed class of “hundreds, if not thousands” of people.
